Political choices could still alter future of new Cowichan hospital
When John Horgan visited Duncan in the first week of the provincial election campaign, I was delighted that he made a commitment to move forward with building a new hospital. He publicly announced the approval of the business plan along with the funding numbers.
He also pointed out that Andrew Wilkinson’s $3 billion in tax cuts to the wealthiest could mean deep cuts to services as we experienced when they were last in power. So, it concerned me when I heard Sonia Furstenau downplay the risk presented by the BC Liberals and accuse the process of being politicized.
While I give thanks to all the people who have been advancing our new hospital plan, the stark reality is that until a shovel hits the ground, it will come down to political choices.
