Private schools shouldn’t get public funding

Regarding the government policy of allocating tax revenue to bolster the coffers of private schools. This practice was started by the past Liberal government who seemed very driven to privatize all government services.

So on that note all private schools are private businesses. Why are they entitled to public funds? If a family chooses private education they can obviously afford it without public support.

I have worked for close to 20 years in education within the Cowichan region both private and public sectors, this experience and knowledge gives me purpose to question public policy.

Some of these private schools are multi-million dollar enterprises, with no end to donations and alumni support. In fact one alumnus donated $19 million to his alma mater. I really don’t think they need public funding as well. Especially when our local public schools are very aged and worn out. Also when school PACs have to raise funds to purchase educational material and playground equipment.

This is a clear case of Hales and Nots, most UNCANADIAN!

So, make it right Horgan and company, your party platform is to advance working families through public education and health care, let’s realize it!
