Seniors care homes should remain private

Donna stated that private group care homes should be a part of our public health care system.

Easier said than done.

If the government was to take over all private heatlh care locations, then the government would have to sign lease agreements for these group home locations. Also the agovernment would have to absorb all of the operating costs. Another added expense for B.C. taxpayers to pay in form of taxes.

All private health care employees would now become new employees on the B.C. health care payroll list.

Mega millions more in expense for the B.C. taxpayers to pay in form of taxes.

The only way the above scenario can come to reality is that these residents would still have to pay their monthly rental amounts as they presently do with the private health care sector group homes. That is 70 per cent of their monthly income, which would now be paid to the B.C. government.

There is no way that the B.C. government could afford the suggestion made by Donna.

In summary, the present private health care homes should stay as is. Just true common sense, financially, for the group home residents, and the government of B.C.

Unbelievable!
