Tigers don’t change their stripes

The Liberal policy reversals in Thursday’s throne speech reveal just how far Christy Clark will go to cling to power.

Her government opposed public funding for childcare for years — now she says she has “always been committed to childcare”.

After accepting millions of dollars in corporate handouts to win election and voting down six bills to ban big money, she now says she supports political finance reform.

Tigers don’t change their stripes and Christy Clark’s sudden policy u-turns don’t absolve her of her disastrous record. A cynical strategy to bleed support from the Greens and NDP in an attempt to repair her image in a lead up to another election is not what B.C. needs. According to recent polls, the majority of British Columbians want the NDP and Greens to have a shot at governing together. Let’s get on with it — it’s time for change!
