Re-establishing our passenger train service from Victoria to Courtenay is precisely what we should be aiming at.
While the costs involved may be considerable, so are the overall benefits. All levels of government should be funding this, as a viable form of alternate transportation.
Many of us would actually prefer to take rail transit and this would also be inviting to tourist travel — enjoy the journey along a beautiful scenic route away from highway traffic. It may be well worth paying a higher fare for this option.
Let’s advocate and move along on reinstating rail service, while the funding pledged is still available. There should be no further hesitation on this!
