Why are we spending money on Station Street park?

It amazes me that the City of Duncan is still pursuing design changes to the 85 Station St. property and is enlisting a Portland, Oregon, based design firm for the job!

We already have a lovely little, homey, park there that perfectly fits the personality of Duncan! There are trees, two totems, a large mural. It has tables with seats where people can sit outside to relax or eat their lunch. There’s a nice lawn over most of it. Buskers often perform there. Why are we spending money to fix something that doesn’t need it? Why not put an additional mural on the north wall and leave the rest as it is? Surely, in this time of so much homelessness, our time and money could be spent more wisely!

Speaking of money, in none of the articles about this change to the park, has there been any mention of cost! It seems there has been round after round of “workshops to develop a final plan”. How many rounds of workshops are required to develop “final concept plans”, which include “high-level cost estimates”? All this for one little green space!
