Will odour from biogas plant collect like smoke?

“There wouldn’t be any smells beyond the border of the facility.”

So say the proponents of the biogas plant in Cobble Hill.

As a former 40 year resident of property adjacent to the plant, I disagree. Years ago, most of our neighbours used wood stoves to heat their homes.

La Fortune Road sits in a little dip or bowl. The smoke would collect, especially in the winter, making our nightime walks down La Fortune Road quite uncomfortable. It has also been said that cigarette smoke can tavel as much as a quarter mile. Well smoke, like odour, does travel.

The regional officials will have to do their homework and not just rubber stamp the project.
