Campbell River crew wins Duncan Ladies Bonspiel

Duncan and Nanaimo rinks win B and C events

The Campbell River rink of Nicole Currie, Dodie Braithwaite, Sharon McCurrie and Tammy Lapointe got past the Duncan team of Louise Martin, Tricia Mayea, Virginia Conway and Elaine Hutchinson in the A final at the Duncan Curling Club Ladies Bonspiel last weekend.

Rounding out the top four in the A event, sponsored by A&W were the Duncan team of Kathy Yu, Lorrie Hardie, Trish Oud and Dana Cowen in third, and Rebecca Douglas, Sophie Brissette, Michaela Morial and Libby Elliot, a team of juniors from all over Vancouver Island, in fourth.

Vicki Sjoberg skipped her Duncan rink including Sara Ferrario, Shawn Bates and Cheala Beck to first in the Hardie Honey B event, ahead of another Duncan foursome consisting of Nanci Friday, Stacey Bruce, Vicki Janzen and Leanne Irving. Sheila Percival, Dianna Rochon, Shannon Stevens and Trina White from Duncan finished third ahead of the combined Lake Cowichan and Duncan rink of Diane Myrden, Kari McKinlay, Maria Elzinga and Barb Kaiser.

The C event, sponsored by the Cow Café West Coast Grill, was won by the Nanaimo rink of Heather Lindsay-Lecuyer, Shirley Sloan, Sharon Wright and Carol Dorman over the Kerry Park team of Lorraine Gagnon, Myrna Proulx, Cheryl Cameron and Amanda Daines. Third place went to Heather Shortill, Christine Macdonald, Debbie Loewen and Lisa Perry from Duncan, with Grace Predy, Sigi Ireland, Ann Bompas and Linda Larsson from Duncan in fourth.

The Lynn Derry rink won Glen Harper’s Biggest End competition with six points in one end.
