Brent Brown, Shane Brown and Cordell Jack helped lead Chemainus to third place at the Island single-A boys soccer championships hosted by Duncan Christian School last week.

The trio were all named to the post-tournament all-star team after the school’s impressive showing, which ended with a 4-3 penalty kicks win over Port Hardy in the third-place game last Thursday.

Duncan Christian finished fifth in the tournament after beating Brookes Shawnigan Lake (formerly Dwight Canada) 3-2 on penalty kicks in the fifth-place game. Ancil Tom and Elvis Kerote scored for DCS against Brookes, while Vincent Fernandez was phenomenal all game, making key saves and scoring a penalty goal himself.

Glenlyon Norfolk School won the first-place game over St. Andrew’s, and Nanaimo Christian rounded out the field in seventh place.

Joining Brown, Brown and Jack on the all-star team were local players Noah Corbett, Morgan Cook and Hosang Kim from DCS, and Pedro Cavalcante and Rene Alvarez Gonzalez from Brookes.
