After a ton of improvements and a long hiatus, the Cowichan Lawn Bowling Club is ready for its Grand Opening this Sunday.

The Grand Opening will run from 10 a.m. to noon, with Duncan Mayor Michelle Staples on hand, as well as several of the contractors who worked on the improvements.

“The club has all new greens,” club spokesperson Betty Burnett explained. “A lot of hard work and expense and an enormous amount of volunteer hours went into the past year.”

After the Grand Opening, the club, located in Duncan’s Centennial Park, will be open from noon to 3 p.m. for anyone who wants to learn how to bowl. The club is also offering free coaching sessions next Monday to Friday (May 2-6) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
