If you’re looking for a new sport or activity to pursue coming out of the COVID-19 pandemic, stop by the Sport & Recreation Fair at the Cowichan Sportsplex this Saturday (May 14).

About 30 clubs and organizations will be on hand from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. to offer free, hands-on demonstrations for people of all ages to try.

“The idea is to energize registration and sign-up for local sports that have seen a drop in registration during COVID,” said Chris Jaycox, executive director of the Cowichan Sportsplex.

Participating organizations will have space on the infield of the track where kids and adults can check out different sports and sign up on site. Special themed presentations will be featured throughout the day.

The event will also feature food trucks, mascots and prizes. It will run rain or shine

“We’re trying to get a lot of people out there and create a fun festival atmosphere,” Jaycox said.
