April Fools Day is the deadline for community sports organizations to apply for sport event grants and that’s no joke.

Did you know CVRD Sport Tourism has funding up to $3,000 to assists sporting clubs and organizations host their 2023 events in Cowichan?

Time is running out for the next intake, however.

For events taking place July 1 through Dec. 31, 2023, applications must be received by April 1.

Online grant applications can be found at the CVRD.ca website, by clicking on the Parks & Recreation tab and then the Cowichan Sports Tourism tab, followed by the Planning and Resources then Sport Event Grants tabs.

Online applications can also be accessed by clicking here.

The CVRD notes that among others, the criteria that must be met to be considered for funding must include: that “financial incentives provided will support a Vancouver Island, provincial or national event that brings people into the Cowichan Region,” that the event be held within the region using CVRD facilities and services, that the CVRD is listed as a sponsor, and that “a post-event report just be provided including data pertaining to economic activity and community impacts generated by the event.”
