The host Chargers had a strong showing in the round robin but lost both of their playoff games to finish seventh overall at the Duncan Christian School Senior Boys Invitational Volleyball Tournament on Oct. 22 and 23.

“We didn’t do as well as we had hoped but the team is improving quickly and will definitely be a contender at the Islands,” DCS athletic director Tom Veenstra commented.

The Chargers went 2-1 in pool play, beating Ballenas 25-17, 20-25, 15-12 and Brookes Westshore 20-25, 25-18, 15-9, and losing to Dover Bay 21-25, 25-20, 15-11.

They were swept by Wellington 25-22, 25-21 in the first round of the playoffs, then lost to Ballenas 26-24, 25-14 in the consolation semifinals.

Dover Bay beat Nanaimo Christian for first place, and Wellington beat Mark R. Isfeld for third.

DCS will host the Island boys championship tournament on Nov. 16, as well as the Island girls championship on Nov. 12 and 13.
