Duncan Christian is hosting the Provincial Boys ‘A’ Volleyball Championship this weekend (Dec. 1-3) using both their own facility and the Frances Kelsey gym.

The tournament, which features the top 16 ‘A’ tier schools from across the province, marks the 11th time DCS has hosted a provincial high school sports event, with the first held back in 1995 at the Cowichan Community Centre.

“Duncan Christian loves to host and with the support of the Cowichan Valley, we look forward to providing another first class experience for visiting teams and athletes from across the province,” said a press release from the school.

It’s an experience the players are excited to have.

“I’m very proud seeing how our team has improved and how these boys have grown over the season,” said DCS volleyball team captain Cohen Floucault. “A lot of these boys have stepped into roles they aren’t comfortable with and they are doing great. This being my last year I am so glad to have played it with this team and been given the opportunity to help lead them. I can’t wait to experience that level of play and win some games with this team.”

The event will be live streamed for those who wish to watch the best of ‘A’ senior boys volleyball online.

It can be viewed at https://bcss.tv or by visiting the BCSS YouTube page.

“Over the course of this season there have been lots of ups and downs for the team,” said head coach Jon Lampard. “We are excited for the opportunity to host the provincial championships and thank Tom Veenstra, Sondra Neudorf and others who have done so much to make this tournament happen. The boys have worked hard all season and are excited to show what they can do.”
