Duncan runners dominate Autumn Classic

Duncan-based runners had the top times in the 5km, 10km and combined times at the Cowichan Autumn Classic road race presented by the CeeVacs Roadrunners on Oct. 21.

Duncan-based runners had the top times in the 5km, 10km and combined times at the Cowichan Autumn Classic road race presented by the CeeVacs Roadrunners on Oct. 21.

Richard Light finished atop the 5K and combined standings with times of 18:44 and 58:25, respectively, while Dusty Spiller won the 10K with a time of 36:07, edging out Light’s 39:41.

A total of 264 runners finished the 10K, while 204 ran the 5K, and 104 had combined results.

The top five male runners in the 5K included Light, Duncan’s Cory Ramstead (19:02), Victoria’s Ben Puszka (19:09), Cobble Hill’s Brent Scott (19:54) and Victoria’s Scott Roberts (20:04).

The top five female runners were Cowichan Bay’s Lydia Pedri (22:09), Nanoose Bay’s Erin Davidson (23:00), Maple Bay’s Jocelyn Lenarcic (23:02), Campbell River’s Stephanie Renwick (23:34) and Maple Bay’s Katelyn Lenarcic (24:11).

Behind Spiller and in the 10K male results were Puszka (40:08), Shawnigan Lake’s Dawson Anderson (41:29) and Chemainus’s Roger Plamondon (41:53).

The female leaders were Victoria’s Kristin Lefler (44:57), Cobble Hill’s Shannon Lebeuf (46:06), Shawnigan Lake’s Hannah Gottfried (47:33), Renwick (49:02) and Nanaimo’s Paris Gaudet (49:50).

The top male combo times belonged to Light, Puszka (59:17), Roberts (1:01:59), Victoria’s Gary Duncan (1:04:03), Shawnigan Lake’s Eric Meredith (1:06:49).

The best female combo times were had by Lebeuf (1:19:10), Renwick (1:12:45), Nanaimo’s Kate Cook (1:14:06), Campbell River’s Jane Johnson (1:15:19) and Ladysmith’s Kelly Schellenberg (1:17:08).
