Duncan teams second and third at Hopwo Tournament

Port Alberni finished first and Chemainus placed eighth at the Hopwo Mosquito Baseball Tournament on June 4 and 5.

The Port Alberni Blue Jays finished first and the host Chemainus team placed eighth in the 12-team field at the 12th annual Hopwo Mosquito Baseball Tournament on June 4 and 5.

The teams each played four round-robin games followed by playoffs. Port Alberni defeated the Duncan Rockies 12-10 in a thrilling championship game, while the Duncan Mariners finished third and were also named the Most Sportsmanlike Team.

In addition to the team from Chemainus and the champs from Alberni, the tournament included five teams from Duncan, three from Ladysmith, and two from Saltspring Island.
