Siblings Alex and Alyssa Gammie both came from behind to finish second in their respective divisions at the 2019 Youth Bowl Canada provincial tenpin championships at Lucky 9 Lanes in Richmond last month.

Alex Gammie made up 55 pins over games five and six to place second in the junior boys division, the top result among five Duncan Lanes bowlers in the 12-14 age group

Alyssa had a strong showing with 134 points in her sixth game to overtake the bronze medallist and claim silver in the bantam (under-12) division, where she was the lone girl representing Duncan Lanes. Alyssa also had the high game for bantam girls with a 163 in her first game.

Ethan Frehlick matched the Gammies’ feat, also jumping one spot to secure bantam boys silver in his final game. Frelhick’s 154 in his sixth game was the third highest among all bantam boys, joining with a 170 in his second game to keep him among the leaders all weekend.

Joining Alex Gammie in the junior boys division were Logan Harvey in fourth, just 28 pins out of bronze, Jeremy Garside in seventh, Brady Wratten in 10th, and Brandon Clark in 11th. Paige Novak was the only Duncan Lanes bowler in the junior girls division, finishing sixth at her first provincials.

Frehlick was followed in the bantam boys division by Parker Harvey in ninth, Kayden Richardson in 12th, and Brodie Woywitka in 15th.

In the senior girls division, Amber Kelly, 15, competed against bowlers as old as 21, and finished eighth, including a 170 in her final game.

Kyle Murchie finished 15th in his first time at the senior boys division, while Aden Nettleton placed 17th.
