Grass Court Classic kicks off tournament season

Grass Court Championship starts July 21

The South Cowichan Lawn Tennis Club hosted its annual Grass Court Classic on June 28-July 1 to kick off the tournament season.

The tournament attracted 115 individual entries in men’s and women’s singles and doubles, and mixed doubles events.

Men’s 65 doubles: Dave Pentland and Peter Thomas

Men’s 70 doubles: Melvyn Ackerman and Paul Brown

Women’s 45 doubles: Carolyn Goff and Johane Mui

Women’s 55 doubles: Debbie Harit and Wendy Thurlborn

Women’s 60 doubles: Shaun Gessner and Debbie Harit

Women’s 65 doubles: Cerris Davies and Penny Kemshaw

Women’s 70 doubles: Lynne Cowan and Jean Martin

Mixed 35 doubles: Kevin Quinn and Yolanda Huapaya

Mixed 55 doubles: Moe Rahemtulla and Wendy Banham

Mixed 65 doubles: Peter Thomas and Jean Martin

This coming week, the SCLTC will host the 132nd Vancouver Island Grass Court Championships from July 21-27.
