It doesn’t matter where on the field Carolyn Gudmundseth plays, she always finds a way to score.

Usually a fullback, Gudmundseth moved to outside centre for the last game of the fall season for the Cowichan Rugby Football Club’s women’s side, and still put up four tries as her team got by Westshore 27-24 at Juan de Fuca on Nov. 23.

Missing Tyson Beukeboom, who was in California with the national women’s team, and Bristine Gibbons, who was out with an injury, Cowichan was able to insert Dani Robb and Jenna Bugden into the lineup, but had to change some positions to make things work.

In addition to Gudmundseth’s tries, Fin Morris also scored, and Hannah McDevitt kicked a conversion. Gudmundseth and Jerri-lyn Chisholm shared Player of the Game honours.

After the winter break, Cowichan and Westshore will combine forces to compete in the B.C.-wide women’s First Division, as they did last year. The spring season begins with a road trip to Abbotsford on Jan. 25.
