The Lake Cowichan Kraken were ready to roll Friday, Feb. 10 when they visited the Peninsula Panthers at the Panorama Recreation Centre.

The Panthers have had the Kraken’s number this season, winning all three matchups so far this year.

But not this time. The Kraken fired 38 shots on the Peninsula goalie, getting five into the back of the net.

It was a total team effort as goals came from four different scorers in the 5-3 victory.

Already down a goal two minutes into the contest, Anthony Wilson scored a short handed goal with Brayden Ganter sitting in the box for cross checking.

The Panthers scored two more to take a two-goal lead but Ganter redeemed himself, working with Sukhraj Narwal to feed Mitchell Billings for his ninth of the year.

That was it for scoring until the Kraken burst out of the gate in the third. Aiden Eddy scored his 17th of the season from Narwal and Billings 43 seconds into the period.

Ganter got his second assist of the game on a Nicholas Moore goal midway through the period to give Lake Cowichan the lead and Eddy put it away with an empty netter as the final seconds ticked down.

Sean Walia got the victory in net for the Kraken, stopping 24 of 27 shots.
