Hockey day pays tribute to Kevin Eriksen

Friends and family members of the late Kevin Eriksen will pay tribute to him with a fun afternoon of hockey this Saturday.

Friends and family members of the late Kevin Eriksen will pay tribute to him with a fun afternoon of hockey at Fuller Lake Arena this Saturday.

Five teams will play a series of mini games from 4-10 p.m., hosted by his former Possum Lodgers teammates, who hope to make it an annual event.

“There will be a lot of people playing that used to know him,” organizer Dave Bodger said. “It’s a way to remember him.”

Eriksen died in March 2015 after a battle with cancer. He left behind three kids in their teens and early 20s, some of whom will be playing this weekend.

Eriksen played minor hockey at Fuller Lake, and went on to play in the Mill Bay Rec Hockey League.

“Kevin was known all over the Valley,” Bodger said. “He was a really active, well-liked guy.”

Along with the games on Saturday, the Possum Lodgers are hosting a beer garden at the arena.
