Junior Thunder make home debut Tuesday

The junior B lacrosse season gets under way this weekend for the Cowichan Valley Thunder.

The junior B lacrosse season gets under way this weekend for the Cowichan Valley Thunder with a road game against on Sunday, followed on Tuesday by the team’s home debut at Kerry Park Arena at 8 p.m.

The Thunder are one of four teams in the Pacific Northwest Junior Lacrosse League, along with Nanaimo, Juan de Fuca and Saanich.

Head coach Lorne Winship is looking forward to the season.

“Our team is coming together, he said. “It’s been a lot of work trying to get kids rallied and interested and sighed, but it’s looking like our numbers will be decent.”

The Thunder will boast several A-calibre players who have opted for junior B this summer, including Tyson Black, Adam Golia, Taylor Martin, Graham and Colin Winship, and goalie Pollo Claxton.
