The Kerry Park Islanders will be playing preseason games this weekend after all.

The Isles have a home-and-home series against the Comox Valley Glacier Kings this weekend, at Kerry Park on Saturday, Sept. 4 at 7:30 p.m. and in Courtenay on Sunday, Sept. 5 at 6:30 p.m.

After three games against the Lake Cowichan Kraken last weekend were called off, the Isles’ remainin exhibition matches were also wiped from the slate, but they had returned to the VIJHL website as of Thursday morning. A post to the Islanders’ Instagram page also advised that the games were happening.

The Kraken are also in action this week, playing a home-and-home against the Nanaimo Clippers in Nanaimo on Thursday and Lake Cowichan on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

The regular season kicks off for the Kraken on Wednesday, Sept. 8, when they visit the Westshore Wolves. The Isles will open their regular season at home against the Kraken on Saturday, Sept. 11.
