Maple Bay Rowing Club marks big haul at Shawnigan Regatta

3 golds among 8 medals overall

The Maple Bay Rowing Club collected eight medals at the Shawnigan Lake School Regatta earlier this month, including three golds.

Koen Hales, Oliver Mackenzie-Kissinger, Oliver Price, Trevin Buckland and Quinlan Campbell took first place in the U19 novice men’s coxed quad; Agata Minka, Abigail Stemler, Makenzie Bennett, Anya Prokopchuk and Emma Dingelday claimed top spot in the U17 women’s coxed quad; and Ava Roe, Sadie Wood, Sierra Priekshot, Ashley Pepper and Quinlan Campbell finished first in the U15 women’s coxed quad.

From the U15 women’s coxed quad, Roe and Wood also took second in the U15 women’s double, and Pepper and Priekshot placed third in the same race.

Other silver medals went to Chantelle Westgate, Ginger Woods, Lexy Lazenby, Emma Dingelday and Taylor Bennett in the U19 JV women’s coxed four.

Jackson Smith and Mika Zierstedt rowed to bronze in the U19 JV men’s double, as did Oliver Price and Oliver Mackenzie-Kissinger in the U17 novice men’s double.
