Mid-Island Brewers take 2 by forfeit

Club sits second in SIBL standings

The Mid-Island Brewers picked up an easy couple of wins in the South Island Baseball League last weekend, without having to pick up their bats.

The Layritz Red Sox weren’t able to round up enough players for the teams’ doubleheader at Evans Park on Saturday, giving the Brewers a pair of forfeit victories.

The two games, which will go into the books as 7-0 wins for Mid-Island, improved the club’s record to 7-3, keeping them in second place in the SIBL behind the Layritz Reds.

The Brewers will visit the Layritz Monarchs this Saturday, with games at noon and 3 p.m. Mid-Island’s next home games are scheduled for July 16 against the Lambrick Royals.
