A Nanaimo rink edged a Duncan foursome for first place in the A event at the Duncan Curling Club mixed bonspiel on Feb. 28-March 3.
Bart Sawyer’s team including Nancy Friday, Keith Clarke and Stacey Bruce beat Kevin Lamont’s team that included Shannon Stevens, Dakota Stevens and Trina White 8-2 in the final of the A event, sponsored by Farmer Ben’s Eggs. Third place went to the team of Victor Gamble, Cathie Lambert, Trish Oud and Burke Montague, and fourth went to Maria Elzinga, Rodney Challborn, Diane Myrden and John Elzinga.
The final of the B event, sponsored by Berk’s Intertruck, was won 8-5 by the team of Jerry Siddall, Joanne Leitch, Peter Pukalo and Pat Moore over Dwayne Perry, Kelsey Dentoom, Andre Dentoom and Lisa Perry. In third were Gord Milne, Marion Devita, Dick Vanderkemp and Rhonda Raimondo, followed by Doug Skinner, Lisa Skinner, Andy Davis and Michele Swanson in third.
Duaine Hardie, Kathy Yu, Lorrie Hardie and Carley Hardie won 7-1 over Steven Andersen, Genya Stevens, Dean Ford and Mandi Boettcher in the OK Tire C event final. Paul Kondahl, Jan Giles, Glen Marsh and Lauri Arscott finished third, and Brent Dellebuur, Kathy Pernak, Bill Grant and Vicki Janzen placed fourth.
The final of the D event, sponsored by Red Arrow Brewing, was won 7-5 by Murray Blom, Marianne Sanders, Richard Odo and Karen Lundstrom over Fred Toth, Joni Leduc, Mike Granziol and Caroline Day. In third were Trish Mayea, Jeff Sidhu, Lynn Posl and Andy Skinner, and in fourth were Sheldon Spier, Cheryl Cameron, Daryl Forbes and Donna Wachowich.
