The undefeated peewee B Cowichan Thunder qualified for the provincial box lacrosse championships with a two-game sweep of Juan de Fuca 2 at Kerry Park Arena last Saturday.

The Thunder sank the Whalers 12-3 in the morning game and 13-1 in the afternoon to lock up a final-four spot in the Island peewee B league and a berth in the provincial tournament in Delta next month.

The Island semis and finals are scheduled to take place in the Cowichan Valley this weekend. The Thunder play their semifinal at Fuller Lake Arena on Saturday at 6:30 p.m., and the final is set for 11 a.m. on Sunday at Kerry Park Arena.

The peewee B Thunder were unbeaten in the regular season and hope to add the playoff banner.

The peewee C Thunder were eliminated from contention for their provincial championships after two losses to Campbell River at Fuller Lake last weekend. Campbell River beat Cowichan 8-5 on Sunday morning and 4-3 that afternoon.
