Port Alberni rink wins Duncan ladies bonspiel

A rink from Port Alberni edged out a local foursome to win the A event at the Duncan Curling Club Ladies Bonspiel last weekend.

A rink from Port Alberni edged out a local foursome to win the A event at the Duncan Curling Club Ladies Bonspiel last weekend.

The Michelle Twanow rink, including Tracy Newlands, Debbie Pulak and Lois Russell, prevailed in the A&W A bracket over the rink skipped by Vicki Sjoberg, and including Sara Ferrario, Shawn Bates and Tara Jansen. In third was the Grace Predy rink with Sigi Ireland, Anne Bompas and Linda Larson, while Diane Myrden , Kari McKinlay, Diedre Monti and Dana Neuffer were fourth.

The Tracey Norman rink with Cathy Lambert, Kelsey Dentoom and Glynis Buchanan won the Hardie Honey B event over the Marianne Sanders rink with Maggie MacDowell, Audrey Funk and Brenda Adams. Third place went to the team of Barb Foster, Carol Shewchuk, Linda Rumley and Judy Lamontagne, while Kelly Meikle, Lorrie Bell-Wiles, Margot Welwood and Paula Ainsley placed fourth.

The Cow Café Westcoast Grill-sponsored C event was won by Mill Bay’s Mary Gibbs rink with Sandy Allegretto, Laurie Arscott and Heather Foster over the team of Christine Moroz, Christine Macdonald, Heather Shortill and Debbie Loewen. Third place went to Kathy Yu’s rink with Trish Oud, Brook Reintjes and Dana Cowan, and in fourth was the Sheila Percival rink with Dianna Rochon, Shannon Stevens and Trina White.
