Shawnigan Lake School’s boys bantam prep team struggled over the weekend of Oct. 20-23 as the school played host to a Canadian Sport School Hockey League showcase, losing all four games.

In the opening game on Oct. 20, Shawnigan was beaten 6-2 by the Notre Dame Hounds from Wilcox, Sask. John Little had a goal and an assist for Shawnigan, Rhys Dutcyvich scored the other goal, and Tosh Paziuk and Corbin Hanson had the other helpers.

The following day, Shawnigan lost 6-0 to Winnipeg’s Rink Hockey Academy.

Shawnigan faced Notre Dame again on Oct. 22, this time losing 8-2. Hanson and Marshall McDonald scored goals, and Little, Owen Evers and Ethan Anstey had assists.

Shawnigan wrapped up the tournament with a 12-1 loss to OHA Edmonton on the last day of play, Dutcyvich accounting for the team’s only goal.

Shawnigan will host a weekend of midget varsity CSSHL games this coming weekend. Shawnigan Black will play Coeur d’Alene on Friday at 11 a.m. and Saturday at 5 p.m., and Pursuit of Excellence Hockey Academy on Sunday at 11 a.m.

Shawnigan Gold will face Pursuit of Excellence on Friday at 4 p.m., Coeur d’Alene on Saturday at 9 a.m., Pursuit again on Saturday at 7:30 p.m., and Coeur d’Alene on Sunday at 8:30 a.m.
