Shawnigan Hills parkrun report for April 2

17 of 27 set personal bests

Many of our events have been memorable, from our first (and most attended) run back in 2019, to our wettest (and least attended) run at the end of last year. However, parkrun No. 42 was our most successful yet, with 17 of the 27 athletes recording personal best times. First finisher Ed Love crossed the line in a time of 19:05 (the third-fastest ever on this course); Tristan Camp-Lagueux broke the the SM20-24 record in a time of 24:26; Brian Zimmerman and Jasmine Bal both improved by over a minute, in times of 27:16 and 28:44 respectively.

Sheryl Raymond and David Pope both broke the 30-minute barrier for the first time, whilst Kristin Herle, Maryann Hartmann, Andrea MacDonald, Jennifer Buck, Carene Quigley, Lisa Scott, Melanie Findlater, Steve Sparling, Claire Corbett and Rosemary Michie also enjoyed personal best times.

We also welcomed four first-timers, as Meaghan Hyslop crossed the line to become our 250th finisher.

This coming Saturday, we welcome the North America Territory Manager of parkrun, Euan Bowman, who is visiting the Island and taking part in our event for the second time.

Walk, jog, run, volunteer or simply come and watch — it is up to you. Be a part of the community, make new friends and socialise — we meet at Shawnigan Coffee House post-run after each event. It is a great way to start the weekend.
