Shawnigan Hills parkrun report for Nov. 6

200th finisher crosses the line in event No. 29

Event No. 29 had the largest number of athletes taking part since we restarted back at the beginning of October. The field of 33 included 13 first-timers and 10 members of CEEVACs running club.

Daryl Baswick was first past the finish line for the second week in succession. His time of 21:49 was one of seven personal best times and is a VM50-54 Age Grade record. There were other notable performances from David Minkow, Carissa Visscher, Kimberley Broome, Claire Corbett, Samantha Criddle and Paula Blake.

As Carene Quigley crossed the line, she became the 200th new finisher at this event. It has been great to see so many people taking part for the first time — a quarter of these have been in the past six runs, and we hope to see many more as parkrun’s popularity spreads through word of mouth and media coverage.

Walk, jog, run, volunteer or simply come and watch — it is up to you. Be a part of the community, make new friends and socialize — we meet at Shawnigan Coffee House post-run after each event. It is a great way to start the weekend.

To register for parkrun, please go to Simply fill in your details and print off your unique barcode and you are good to go.

Next run: Saturday, Nov. 13 at 9 a.m.
