Shawnigan Hills parkrun report for Oct. 16

Teenager leads the way once again

For the second week in succession, half the field at parkrun No. 26 were first-timers. Led home by 16-year-old Adam Hyde-Lay, there were also impressive performance by Alice MacKay, Kate Wright, Brooklyn Belanger and Michele Caouette, who all recorded personal best times.

Special thanks must go to members of Shawnigan Lake School’s cross country team who help to marshall the event. We also welcome volunteers from members of the local community.

In the coming weeks, Shawnigan Hills parkrun will be introducing a slightly different course that will take in some of the borderline trails around the school campus.

Walk, jog, run, volunteer or simply come and watch – it is up to you. Be a part of the community, make new friends and socialize – we meet at Shawnigan Coffee House post-run after each event. It is a great way to start the weekend.

To register for parkrun, please go to https://www.parkrun.ca/register. Simply fill in your details and print off your unique barcode and you are good to go.

Next run: Saturday, Oct. 23 at 9 a.m.
