A thrilling game between the Cowichan Typhoons and Shawnigan Lake School 1 determined second place at the Malcolm Fernandes U18 Girls Field Hockey Tournament at the Island Savings Centre late last month.
The Typhoons and Shawnigan 1 played to a tie in the hotly contested game, giving the Typhoons second place behind the powerhouse Victoria Wildcats, who went through the tournament undefeated.
Shawnigan 1 ended up in third, followed by the Cowichan Tsunamis in fourth, Oak Bay in fifth, and Shawnigan 2 in sixth.
One player from Calgary travelled out to compete in the tournament.
The senior tournament scheduled for the following weekend had to be cancelled due to weather.
