Fans of high-level girls fastball will be treated to a doubleheader at Evans Park this Sunday afternoon as two of Vancouver Island's best U16 squads square off.
The Victoria Fastball Club Devils will take on the Vancouver Island High Performance Impact in games at 2:30 and 4:30 p.m. The Devils and Impact are the only A-level teams on the Island. The Devils have been competing for several years, but the Impact are in their first season. Rick Smith, a B.C. Softball Hall-of-Famer from Crofton, coaches the Impact, while his longtime teammate Kevin Bobroske guides the Devils. Both teams are preparing for the Canadian Open Championships and B.C. Provincials coming up in July.
"It should be a good competitive game," Softball BC District 1 minor coordinator Katrina Bull said.
