Canadian Federation of University Women award 3 scholarships to Cowichan students

The Canadian Federation of University Women, Cowichan Valley, has awarded three scholarships to Cowichan Valley students for 2023.

“Congratulations to all of the recipients of these awards,” the group said in a press release.

In cooperation with Vancouver Island University, the Canadian Federation of University Women, Cowichan Valley, were able to award four $1,000 Indigenous awards for a female student, which VIU chose, and two $1,500 awards for a female student continuing in studies at VIU, which the university also chose.

This year there were three $1,000 high school scholarship/bursary recipients from Cowichan Valley School District 79. These recipients were chosen by a Committee of CFUW members reviewing over 45 applications.

Ginger Boehme-Vertefeuille, graduated from Cowichan Secondary and is attending the University of British Columbia, specializing in Biological/Environmental Studies and Science Communication.

Lily Armstrong Hallquist, graduated from Cowichan Senior Secondary and is attending Camosun College and working on an Associate Degree of Arts, with a focus in Psychology.

Roselyn Baird, graduated from Lake Cowichan Secondary and is attending Camosun College and working on a Diploma in the Visual Arts program with a focus on becoming an illustrator.
