With nine properties within a four-kilometre radius, the Chemainus Garden Tour is a pedestrian’s delight.
“For somebody that’s energetic, it’s walkable,” confirmed Gunnell Borge, one of the event organizers.
On June 11 from 10 a.m. through 4 p.m. garden enthusiasts can make their ways around town and check out a variety of spaces.
From Croft Street to Cedar Street, from Cook Street to Dogwood, from Sea Haven to Orca View Terrace, and Laurel and Caswell, the gardens are each unique.
“They go from an oceanfront larger property to inner-town veggie combination gardens — there’s artificial turf at one of the properties,” explained Borge.
Various plants and also wares from the Chemainus Candle Co. will be for sale on the tour.
“They made beautiful sculpted beeswax candles,” Borge said of the candle company.
Originally organized by the Chemainus Garden Club, the event has been taken on by a couple of the former members.
“We hope it becomes an annual event,” Gunnell said.
A door prize of Chemainus Theatre Festival Tickets is up for grabs.
“It’s a real community, Chemainus,” Gunnell said. “I think this will really help to enhance the community spirit that we have.”
Tickets are $12 and available at Sandpiper Gardens & Glass on Laurel Street.
All of the profits from the day’s admissions will go to Harvest House food bank.
