Coming up in Cowichan: Pair of Mill Bay Marine Rescue Society fundraisers

Fall Fishing Derby will benefit Mill Bay Marine Search and Rescue

Mill Bay Marina and the Mill Bay Marine Rescue Society are hosting a fundraising fall fishing derby on Saturday, Oct. 20.

Tickets are $60 per person, with barbecue and moorage included in this event, which runs from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

There will be a cash prize for the largest salmon caught and other donated prize draws.

Proceeds go towards to help the Mill Bay Marine Rescue Society.

Casino Night fundraiser coming for Rotary, Search and Rescue

Mill Bay Marine Search and Rescue and the Rotary Club of South Cowichan are hosting a Casino Game Night fundraise on Friday, Nov. 2.

“Limited tickets…Not limited fun” they say of the evening, which will take place at Bridgemans Bistro, 740 Handy Rd., Mill Bay.

The event runs from 5:30-10:30 p.m. and tickets are $55, which includes food, your first beverage prizes, a silent auction and more.

Proceeds will go to the volunteer search and rescue program and the Rotary Club’s community projects.
