For the fourth year, there will be 36 teams of volunteers dropping off bags to fill for the Chemainus and Duncan food banks between Sept. 14-17 at 5,000 houses in the Cowichan Valley.

On Saturday, Sept. 19 between 10 a.m. and noon the same teams will collect the full bags of food and take them to be sorted and weighed. Last year, the collection garnered over 12,000 pounds of food.

This is an initiative of the Church of Latter Day Saints of Jesus Christ and many community groups associated with the food banks and is done across the country. If people want to volunteer to help with the food drive, contact 250-710-2903.
