Nick Woywitka, owner of Nicon Developments, recently made a generous donation to help make sure kids in the Cowichan Valley have enough to eat.
Nourish Cowichan, Starfish Cowichan Valley and School District 79 thanked him last week for his generous donation of $5,000 to Nourish Cowichan. Woywitka is very active in the Cowichan community. Along with his business he is a member of the Rotary Club of Duncan, and a strong supporter of the Starfish Pack Program since it began three years ago.
Since 1976 Nicon has led the industry with innovative new home design and home construction techniques, and “low impact” subdivision development on Vancouver Island. A registered housing professional, Woywitka ensures Nicon meets or exceeds industry standards in all new homes construction and development projects.
This donation is being put towards a new weekly hamper program with hampers going out to students and their families within the school district, as schools have been closed by COVID-19.
Nourish Cowichan and Starfish Cowichan Valley provide food to students during the regular school year. Many familes are in need now more than ever, and it is recommend families contact their child’s school principal if they have questions on how they can participate.
To find our more about who the groups are and what they do, visit their website (https://nourishcowichan.ca/, https://starfishpack.com/cowichan-valley/). Donations are easy to make online through the Nourish website and are eligible for donation tax receipt.

I have also included a picture of some of the hampers from yesterday, getting ready to load them on the school bus to take out for delivery to the schools, and then the parents come to pick them up!
