Have you ever considered joining a local art group? If so, now is the time! Cherry Point Artists is a well-established art group in the Cowichan Valley, and offers a fabulous atmosphere in which to paint. There is always a warm welcome for new members, and painters of all levels and walks of life gather to enjoy each other’s company and share their interest in art every Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Pearmine Room at the Cowichan Exhibition Grounds.
Vaccine passports are required, and COVID protocols are followed. If you would like more information please contact Sue Fenwick by email (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Between December and January, Cherry Point Artists are showcasing member Brenda Isaak Takao of Blue Seed Studio. Brenda is a multi-disciplinary artist and life coach working in Duncan.
While in university, Brenda’s minor was art. She also has a diploma in interior design for which she earned the Governor General’s Collegiate Bronze medal. She displayed an early aptitude for drawing and has a vague memory of her mother furiously scrubbing her artwork off the walls.
Brenda explores many media for her work. Whether she is painting in acrylics, working on sculpture, mixed media or surface design, canvas, paper, paint, wood, thread, ink, mild steel and felted wool all make their home in her art.
While her eclecticism exists with media, the sources of her inspiration remain constant. Brenda’s infatuation with nature and her love of colour, as well as her obsession with the organic line are evident in all her work. Curves, vines, trees, flowers, and spirals all grace her work. Their soft lines pull the eye and create movement whether in two or in three dimensions. You can find Brenda on her Facebook page at Blue Seed Studio, or on her website at BlueSeedStudio.com.
Cherry Point Artists invite you to consider becoming a member, and welcome you to come along any Thursday morning for a coffee and meet our members in person. Bring yourself and your paint to play and socialize.
