VIDEO: New Cowichan Theatre season: tributes to ballet, flamenco to Corb Lund

With everything from the Popovich Comedy Pet Theatre to Burton Cummings, winter looks great.

The staff at the Cowichan Performing Arts Centre have been working their fingers to the bone recently, getting together a jam-packed 2017/18 winter season.

There’s truly something for everyone of every age and taste in the lineup that’s offered in the new schedule, available now.

Poster boys this year are Barenaked Ladies, coming to Duncan on Wednesday, Nov. 15.

But they’re not the only big names on the way: Burton Cummings is playing the big theatre on Tuesday, Oct. 10, and the Downchild Blues Band will be here on Friday, Oct. 13, with Shane Kayczan coming to the Valley on Monday, Dec. 4.

This fall, there is a fine list of tribute shows lined up as well, starting with Louisiana Hayride on Sept. 15, followed by TIME, the Pink Floyd tribute show on Sept. 23.

In October, look for the Kenny and Dolly show on Oct. 4. Then there’s A Tribute to Elvis in Concert on Oct. 12, and Abbamania &The British Legends on Oct. 18.

But there’s more.

It’s the Beatles vs. The Rolling Stones on Nov. 12 and finally A Rock ‘n’ Roll Christmas on Dec. 12.

That’s far from all that’s on offer.

The Cowichan Symphony Society is back with three concerts before Christmas, on Sept. 16, Nov. 25 and Dec. 18.

For dance fans, there’s everything from Flamenco Rosario on Sept. 30 to that perennial favourite, the Royal City Youth Ballet’s Nutcracker on Dec. 15-16.
