The Chemainus Classical Concerts 2023-24 season opens with a familiar ring from previous performers who left a sound impression.

Croatian-born violinist Domagoj Ivanovic and Canadian pianist Noel McRobbie are being welcomed back enthusiastically to open another season with their program, Goths and Vikings. The concert takes place Sunday, Oct. 1 at 2 p.m. at St. Michael’s Church in Chemainus.

“They opened our 2021-2022 season with daring programming and playing so sublime that we felt hopeful and uplifted after being denied live music for so many months,” noted Rykie Avenant, artistic co-director for Chemainus Classical Concerts.

This time, they’ll be featuring works by Schumann, Grieg and Polish composers Szymanowski and Wieniawski. Ivanovic and McRobbie are two superb soloists, who make a formidable duo and are known for their bold programming.

“It is sure to be an exhilarating afternoon of music,” Avenant enthused. “Prepare to be captivated again by these two outstanding artists.”

Reserved tickets are $23 pre-paid or $25 paid at the door. Unpaid reservations are held till 1:50 p.m.

Contact Eleanor Montour at 250-748-8383 to reserve tickets.

At the door, without reservations, tickets are $30 each or $10 for Under 18.

Season tickets are also available for purchase for $180 for nine concerts.

The St. Michael’s Presents Society annual general meeting takes place Oct. 29 at 2 p.m. at 4143 Judge Dr. in Cobble Hill.
