Students take Steps Ahead

On the week of Feb. 26 to March 1, Steps Ahead Dance held three days of examinations for keen and talented dancers. Students were recorded for an Imperial Society of Teachers of Dance examiner who will mark their work in tap and jazz. Two of these dancers were examined for the highly acclaimed Vocation Level 2 Tap examination, allowing them access to membership and more. Following this, a Toronto-based professional examined 47 classically trained dancers for the Royal Academy of Dance ballet examinations, ‘in-studio’. These societies (I.S.T.D. and R.A.D.) are accredited worldwide and allow dancers to attain B.C. arts credits at higher levels.

“Witnessing our dancers performing for expert, international examiners is always rewarding. At Steps Ahead Dance we believe setting goals creates both stronger dancers and teachers,” said Lorraine Blake, owner and artist director at the school.
