The Lake Cowichan Minor Hockey Association celebrated its 53rd annual jamboree on Hockey Day in Canada — Saturday, Jan. 20 — at the Cowichan Sports Arena.
The day kicked off with an 8 a.m. game for the U9 March Meadows Golf Club Lakers, followed by a game for the U11 South Shore Cabinetry Lakers at 9:30 a.m.
At 11:10 a.m. the U6-U8 Timbits/March Meadows Lakers took to the ice prior to the main event, the 12:10-2 p.m. all-teams skills competition.
The association’s home games picked back up at 2:10 p.m. with the U13 Daly’s Auto Centre Lakers on the ice, followed by a 3:50 p.m. game for the U15 BRI Security Lakers.
At 5:30 p.m. the U18 Countrywide Realty Lakers played the final home game of the day for the association, wrapping up a hockey festival like none other on Hockey Day in Canada.
