The province is looking for comments from the public regarding a project that will restore the right bank of the Chemainus River immediately downstream of the Highway 1 bridge.

The bank restoration, which will be carried out by a contractor working for the B.C. Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy, will include the construction of seven bend-way weirs, the installation of large woody debris for fish habitat and riparian planting.

The work is scheduled to take place between Aug. 1 and Sept. 15.

The ministry has given notice that a submission for the work has been added to the Navigable Waters Registry pursuant to the Canadian Navigable Waters Act for public comments on the project.

Comments regarding the effect of this work on marine navigation can be sent through the Common Project Search site http://cps.canada.ca/ under registry number 10638.

If you do not have access to the internet, you can send your comments directly to 778-943-6904, or at Amy.Vallarino@gov.bc.ca.

Comments will be considered only if they are received not later than July 10.
