Catherine Mary "Mamie" Aitken has left the Comox Valley a sizable donation of over $6 million.
It's the largest amount ever donated to the community. The generous amount has been entrusted to the Comox Valley Community Foundation, which will be responsible in allocating the income generated from the Aitken fund to four local organizations the well-known philanthropist specified in her will. They are St. Joseph's Hospital Foundation, students attending North Island College and the Comox Valley Hospice Society, and the foundation, which will use the funds for annual granting program.
