A good loud whistle will deter phone scammers

I read with interest the letter from Sherry Saunderson describing yet another telephone scam. Scam callers obviously don’t respect the “no call” registry, and persist, talking even as we try to hang up politely.

I’ve found one way to deter these callers: keeping a loud whistle by the phone and registering my displeasure with the loudest possible blast.
