Conditions improving, but air quality advisory still in effect for Cowichan

The provincial Ministry of Environment and Island Health said Thursday that an air quality advisory for Duncan is still in effect, though conditions are improving as the weather changes.

With rain in the forecast the fine particulate concentrations in the air measured 26 micrograms per cubic metre at

10 a.m. Thursday morning, still slightly higher than provincial objectives of 25 micrograms, but significantly improved from the 32 micrograms measured earlier in the week.

Until the advisory is lifted, those with underlying medical conditions are being told to postpone strenuous activity and stay indoors.
