Earthquake centred near Tofino felt around Island

A 4.9 earthquake was reported at 6:02:56 p.m. Wednesday 13 kilometres east-northeast of Tofino on the West Coast of Vancouver Island. It was reported at a depth of 5 km on the Vancouver Island Earthquake Watch page on Facebook.

Ahousaht resident Kaitlyn Matthews reported it shook her whole house.

"When the first shake happened I thought my neighbour was banging on the wall and then the second one came which was much more intense," Matthews said.

There were reports of people "feeling it" from Courtenay and Qualicum.
