Fire rips through Honeymoon Bay home

No one injured in blaze

A fire nearly destroyed a home on the 10000 block of Ruskin Road in Honeymoon Bay shortly after 3 a.m. on March 14.

A press release from the Lake Cowichan RCMP said the fire spread through the house quickly, and fire crews from Honeymoon Bay, Mesachie Lake, and Lake Cowichan fire departments were called to put it out.

“The residence was significantly damaged,” said Const. David Prak, spokesperson for Lake Cowichan RCMP.

“However, we are thankful that the house was empty at the time, and there were no injuries to the fire department members on scene.”

The circumstances surrounding the fire remain under investigation.

Anyone with any information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Lake Cowichan RCMP at 250-749-6668.
